There was a set-back to the research activity after the sad demise of Panditji in 1968, mainly due to lack of resources, infrastructure and non-availability of Vedic Research Scholars. Even so, Swadhyay Mandal has been organizing seminars and lectures on topics like vedic Mathemics, Research in Vedas, Bhagavadgita etc periodically. Research articles are also published occasionally in Gujarati magazine Veda Sandesh. Books covering studies in Vedic Mathematics, Ishavasyopanishad have been published. Pamphlets on Introduction to Vedic Literature have been published in Hindi and Gujarati. A vision document chalking out research programme for the next two decades has been prepared, Thousands of pages of manuscripts written by Panditji were lying unattended. Most of them remained incomplete or unedited. Our honorary Adviser Shri E. D. Adavadkar prepared the vision document, completed/edited the incomplete/unedited books, articles etc and prepared a brief introduction to Vedic Literature and Panditji’s contribution to it. A project for setting up a Post graduate Research Center was launched and recognition to it was also received from the South Gujarat University. The project could not however make headway for want of resources and availability of qualified and competent Vedic Research Scholars willing to work full time at Killa Pardi. Efforts are however continuing to find adequate resource and competent staff to man the Vedic Research Institute. It is also proposed to translate in English and some regional languages the important Hindi writings of Panditji on the Vedas and allied subjects.
Swadhyay Mandal has prepared a vision document for next twenty years and chalked out its research programme. There is unfortunately no qualified and experienced regular research staff in Swadhyay Mandal at present. Besides the problem of funds, there is also an acute problem of availability of qualified and experienced Vedic Scholars willing to stay and work at Swadhyay Mandal. Those willing to undertake assignments for Vedic Research are also few and far between. Even so, efforts are continuing to sort out these problems.
Thousand of pages of manuscripts written by Panditji during his life-time had become old and needed preservation on scientific basis urgently. The Archives department of the Government of Gujarat kindly came to our help and scientifically processed for preservation all the old and important manuscripts. These have now been catalogued and carefully preserved in our records.
The Institute maintains a rich library of selected books and important rare manuscripts. These are made available to visiting research scholars.
Swadhyay Mandal receives a number of Indian and foreign visitors every year, who are keen on getting information, guidance and having discussion on Vedas and allied literature. Beside s there are a number of postal queries. The institute caters to their needs to the extent possible. It is also now active on website and internet.
